Scientist Discover Gravitational Waves

(Link-CNN)-Gravitational waves are a reality, according to scientists from an institution that has been hoping to observe them.
"We have detected gravitational waves. We did it," said David Reitze, executive director of LIGO, the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory.
The discovery, based on ripples in space-time detected by LIGO, supports a prediction made by Albert Einstein that's essential to his general theory of relativity. The ripples LIGO detected are based on the merging of two black holes, Reitze said.

If you didn't pass a blunt around to Neil Tyson DeGrasse and watch Nova you did college wrong.  If you did you remember the black hole episode and you probably had a conversation with your friends about what would happen if the Milky Way was swallowed by a black hole.
Up until today it was still a theory but thanks to our friends at MIT and Caltech we now have confirmation of gravitational waves.  G-waves are a reflection of the curvature of space.  Basically when the big bang first occurred the initial energy that was released was fasted than the speed of light.  They also are not altered by passing through the various mediums in the universe (planets, stars, dust, aliens, whatever) so we will have more information about the universe.

Physics professor Szabolcs Marka explained it like this
"And when we hear the universe, we will learn about the secret life of black holes -- their birth, their death, their marriage, their feeding. We will hear when a black hole eats a neutron star," Marka said. "Nobody has 'seen' that before. We will not only understand it, we will 'see' it. It's the most fascinating thing I can imagine."\
The discovery of G-waves makes scientists the NSA and black holes are the American people.  Lets see what Eddie Snowden has to say about that.
